Delightful, two-sided specimen of baby-blue Smithsonite from the Christiana Mine in Lavrion featuring a highly unusual style of crystallization! Rice grains crystals are one the of least common and more intriguing and popular habits for Smithsonite, otherwise known mostly from some rare finds at the Kelly Mine in New Mexico. While this 'bowtie' variation of more usual Smithsonite crystals brings a uniqueness to the already significant aesthetics, the isolation and shape stands out against the dark gossan matrix for stark contrast. Still yet, across the matrix there are numerous tiny spheres of lustrous, green Adamite by association. Collected between 1990-1995, an older specimen obtained from a previous generation of collectors, in this broad collection from the Greek mines of Lavrion.
