From China we have a striking and important location topaz specimen because it is sharp, perfect, and on such a nice matrix. This crystal is about 5 cm tall, 3.5 cm wide, and 3.3 cm depth. It is a total gem with window clarity! These surprised the mineral world when they came out in the early 2000s from a series of gem pegmatites in Southern China near the border with Burma. This particular balanced specimen was one of the best small cabinet pieces. I was able to obtain a very important lot of this material in 2003 or so, including this specimen and the piece on the cover of the Mineralogical Record from that time (same pocket), and sold this to Dr. Steve Smale at the time. We have recently exchanged it back. It remains one of the better examples of this find but it is also a very fine matrix topaz small cabinet, from any location.
