An old piece, from the 1960s or before, of a rarely seen American classic that most of us will never see in person - an American realgar crystal specimen! This large hand sized piece comes from the old Getchell Mine, and specimens today are scarce not only because few were found and most of those are now in museums, but because the realgar decays when exposed to oxygen and light (so keep it in a box, as it has for decades, and it will be just fine). Crystals to 2.5 cm and more, frozen in etched calcite matrix, make this an important survivor.
