This is a superb and gorgeous Cavansite from the Bill and Anne Cook collection with the best metallic, rich teal-blue color you could ask for. We hope the video can show it, as it is difficult to get the full saturation on camera. This saturated color only came out a few times, amidst all the finds, and is considered the best color for the species. It features a trio of Cavansite crystal clusters with unusually elongated form aesthetically intergrown with two multi-crystalline groups intergrown and jutting up in the center of the piece with with a fan of large, bladed crystals angling across at the front of the piece. The cluster itself measures 3 cm across with the large Cavansite blades in the front measuring a big 2.9 cm in length! The Cavansite cluster is accented by a small wedge of white matrix on one side that shows off several, small Stilbite crystals for contrast. Cavansite was originally discovered 1967 in Oregon and named for its chemical composition (CA-lcium, VAN-adium, SI-lica-TE). It is a relatively rare mineral that has since been recovered in fairly large volumes from India, which have provided, by far, the finest specimens of the species in the world, like this stunning thumbnail! It may be hard to see remotely, but it really IS better than most, and is relatively large, in person. It is a volumetric, impactful specimen as a thumbnail.
