Magnesite is usually seen in relatively small crystals as an "accessory" mineral from this locality, particularly, with Uvite, but this specimen from the Chester Lemanski collection is a superb specimen in and of itself. The dramatic large cluster consists of BIG, lustrous, razor-sharp, transparent rhombs of Magnesite to over a whopping 4 inches (10 cm) across! There are three significant crystals that comprise this cluster and in addition to the 4+ inch crystal, there is a 3-1/4 inch crystal at the rear and another 2+ inch crystal poking out at the base of the cluster. All three of these crystals have a faint cream colored hue to them, and all of them have very transparent areas! There are a few little translucent green Uvite Tourmaline crystals in association as well. This is an exceptional and well-balanced Magnesite specimen from the Pomba Pit in Brazil. Ex. Chester Lemanski collection. A large piece from old finds.
