This is a beautiful hunk of natural, intensely blue topaz, and the color alone makes it rare. In a bizarre association, we find there are minute brown-red crystals of the rare phosphate mineral species, Zanazziite, speckled all over the top. It is not quite complete on the edges, with some cleaves on the sides, but it is complete on the display face and simply looks gorgeous set on a shelf. Gioia Collection, Illustrated in the book Mineral Collections of Brazil (published in Brazil). It is a very interesting, eye-catching, and seemingly unique specimen. This is from the multigenerational family collection of Rolando and then of Bruno Gioia, a well-known family of mineral collectors in Sao Paolo.
