A large and very geometric and three-dimensional cluster of topaz crystals is very rare for this remote Utah locality! With crystals to 6.2 cm, this is actually a VERY large example for the location, among the largest and best known of this style in quality. It is complete, and aesthetic. The topaz crystals show some typical sand inclusions, combined with sharp geometry and some translucent zones - this is typical of the location, especially in large crystal sizes over 2 cm or so. The really interesting feature here is the rich adornment of small black crystals, perched on the topaz! These are actually hematite, replacements of almandine original garnet crystals (technical parlance: hematite pseudomorphs after garnet). The elegance and aesthetics is amazing, rare, and special. it is a remarkable USA specimen that seems to have gone off to Switzerland for nearly 40 years and can now be repatriated.
