This is a shockingly large, pristine example of the famous hemimorphites from this old lead mine in southern Italy. It comes from the Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection, a large collection mostly assembled in the 1950s-1970s. The well-respected dealer/collector operated for several decades until he passed away; his collection was in storage after more than 10 years after his passing before being sold to several dealers in the early 2000s. Such specimens are rare survivors from (mostly) the late 1800s and are considered European classics. This is a particularly large and 3-dimensional example with riveting, intense saturated color.
