This is a sharp cluster of large Cordierite crystals from the famous antique finds at Richmond, New Hampshire out of the Robert Whitmore collection (he is an old time miner and collector up there). There are half a dozen prominent, olive green, orthorhombic Cordierite crystals in this cluster. All of the crystals have well developed prism and pinacoid faces, especially for a metamorphic mineral. At least one termination is obvious on each crystal and the three prominent crystals are fairly large with the biggest on measuring nearly 5.5 cm in length, 4 cm across and over 1 cm in thickness. The Cordierite crystals are set in a light colored Muscovite-Quartz matrix. This is an old-time American classic. Rare in specimen quality! Self Collected by Whitmore and others sometime in the 1980s, in a single large big pocket.
