Wulfenite on Limonite$2,000.00

The Erupción or Ahumada Mine (names are interchangeable — though wulfenites occurred at depths below the 500' level when it was the Ahumada if one wanted be precise) is famous as the finest and most important of the older wulfenite localities in Mexico. Specimens like this date to the 1950s-1970s era of mining there, or perhaps earlier. This choice miniature features a literal windowpane of glassy, clear, transparent wulfenite 2 cm across, that sits perched smartly atop a rolling carpet of limonite matrix, on this riveting small miniature. It could also be trimmed to a world class thumbnail, by just removing a few millimeters of matrix to the left and bottom. This is a shocking contrast of color and display, remarkably in pristine condition (it used to be a larger specimen, which protected the crystal from damage in collecting and later handling, and was trimmed down to make a balanced display piece). I can count the number of these I have seen in books on one hand, and only seen a few specimens in person, of this caliber. The small white speckles on the matrix add contrast, and we believe them to be tiny hydrozincites.
