The Meikle Mine is known mostly for its magnificent Barytes, but occasionally it produced fine Calcites as well - though not many, so they are not well-known by collectors. This is a superb, colorless, gemmy scalenohedron with stunning luster and beautiful symmetrical form. It is complete all the way around with an exceptionally sharp point; and as a bonus it fluoresces pink in UV light. Ex. Robert Lavinsky collection. (This was purchased in the mid-1990s for my calcite collection, which was packed away in storage until recently!) Such examples are so rare today, and this is just pretty.
