A totally gem, transparent, bright aquamarine with a stunning and glassy termination. This is 1 inch (2.5 cm) tall and in matrix. It is a welcome surprise, a matrix aquamarine from a location and deposit known for single crystals. They both fall out of matrix naturally because of the nature of the material and, more than that, are simply taken out by miners looking for gem rough in a culture that simply does not value matrix specimens. Bill Larson, in his travels in South Asia, was instrumental in helping bring knowledge and an awareness of matrix specimens to some of these gem localities in the last few decades. This remarkable, cute, gem aqua in matrix is from his personal collection of beryls - many of the Asian specimens picked up on his travels there.
