Wulfenite on Calcite$5,000.00

This stunning small cabinet piece hosts a trio of gem, windowpane Wulfenites originating from the famous Red Cloud Mine in Arizona, one of the top, if not perhaps the top, locale in the world for the species (to most of us). The glassy, fiery orange crystals measure 1.8, 1.3 and 0.5 cm across. The major crystal here is the centerpiece, displaying super bright and glassy luster, absolute transparency and textbook beveled edges. All three crystals are about half-revealed on the Calcite matrix. Note a calcite matrix is highly unusual for this location, seen on only a small handful of specimens. This makes it significant, as much as the mirror-like intense color and luster. The smallest crystal is similar in its gemmy character, and the intermediate crystal has a turbid interior with gemmy edges. The crystals are isolated for perfect composition and the contrast between the bright orange, mauve and white is breathtaking! The large crystal has the highest luster I have ever seen on a Wulfenite! Ex. Caroline (and Alain) Martaud collection with label. As dealers, they also kept personal collections of wulfenite (Caroline) and fluorite (Alain) for many years. This was the best specimen recovered during an intrepid underground expedition to old zones in the mine in 2014. Overall, a significant specimen for quality of both the crystals, and the context.
