Among the rarest of USA gem crystals, these intensely colored Idaho Aquamarine crystals are rare on the market due to limited finds at the locality. The color is breathtaking and like no other Aquamarine occurrences from the USA and actually resembles the rich blue color from the Quy Chau District in Vietnam. This is, rather, from a very difficult deposit (a miarolitic cavity in the Sawtooth batholith) to collect in, and this gemmy Aqua has a richer blue color saturation then almost all others from there. It has relatively lustrous prism faces, as well (many can be etched, but this is fairly sharp). The crystal is gemmier toward the termination and at the bottom with a darker turbid area in the center. The flat pinacoid termination is lightly etched and has a satin luster. This is a beautiful and important USA treasure! The mass of this beautiful blue gem is 32 grams. These were collected in a few small pockets in the 1960s-1980s, and few have been seen since. (purchased by Chet in the 1980s)
