Adamite with Calcite
Note that while adamite from Mexico is fairly common in principle, we are usually talking about OJUELA MINE adamites...and this is something much more rare, a superb, starkly geometric, perfect crystal from Santa Eulalia mining district. The yellow crystal is perfectly perched, dramatically, against sparkling white druse of calcite. The luster is top, like glass! The luster is so brilliant, it is fundamentally different from just about any other adamite crystals from other locales, at this high level. Also, it is somewhat gemmy, and translucent throughout where it is not truly transparent at the tips. Honestly, it looks more like a Moroccan anglesite at first glance, or a gemmy yellow Chinese baryte, than an adamite. Such specimens are rare and hard to find in this quality, as you would expect from a carefully chosen Mexico-based collection such as this one. Ruben Avila was based in Mexico and poised to carefully select and keep these pieces, to make one of the more consistent display Mexican mineral collections in terms of quality, as you see in this update.
