From the long held collection of pyromorphite miniatures in the Smale collection, this is an elegant, curving specimen the likes of which I had not seen before. He bought early, and was already buying in China by the mid-1990s while teaching math in Hong Kong. Steve took the access opportunity to assemble a collection that, at its peak, must have had over 3000 Chinese specimens acquired mostly from the late 1990s through 2008 or so (over 1000 may have been exchanged out to me over the last 10-15 years!). China mineral collecting has changed radically. At that time, so much left... and now a lot stays, plus these old classic locations are older and mature, not producing as much. Here, we have a unique miniature that looks like nothing so much as electric neon-green metallic seaweed!
