Pedra Azul produced, in the late 1980s, a stunning pocket of "ice aquamarine" that remains legendary to this day. For obvious reasons, they look like glittering glass icicles. One imagines that aquamarine was known here since ancient times, as the name literally means Blue Stone in Portuguese! However, out of all the pockets, styles, and tonnage, this complex and sculptured style is the most famous from this region of mines in Minas Gerais. A floater, this is complete all around, even the bottom. This specimen is from the private collection of owner Bill Larson of Pala Intl / The Collector, long on display in their shop in Fallbrook, California (since the 1970s, though this was added in the 1980s). It is complete all around, pristine, and without repairs or damage. 146 grams.
