Quartz with Negative Crystal Phantoms

A strikingly sharp and terminated Quartz crystal showing negative crystal growth in the interior that's from an old find in the Goboboseb Mountains. This dramatic piece is very glassy, totally water-clear and interestingly, the lower half of the crystal is totally limpid and colorless whereas the upper half shows numerous and stacked negative crystal growths and has just a faint smoky tint. Under the microscope or with a loupe, the upper half that displays the negative crystal growth resembles an elongated glass sculpture composed of a train of irregularly shaped and rounded pieces of melted glass with some showing faint geometric forms! Upon rotating the Quartz crystal, one can see that the negative crystal growths take on shapes similar to stacked, irregular phantoms! It's interesting to note that a slight curve in the Quartz crystal is apparent where the negative crystal inclusions become abundant. Complete-all-around. A very fine and uncommon Quartz from Brandberg. Better in person, as photos find it difficult to convey.
