A stunning, deep green single crystal of emerald from this rare locality, which has only briefly produced emerald in crystals of quality. Many of them were cabbed for rough, when this intense in color, even if it was not clean and transparent throughout, thus reducing the number of surviving crystals. From the Tim Sherburn thumbnail collection. 20.65 carats (about 4 grams). This is, as an aside, one of the few Ethiopian emerald singles that could be comparable to a Colombian piece, but without the premium of traditional Colombia emerald crystals.
