An excellent, translucent, cherry-red crystal of Rhodonite with intense color and luster from the historic manganese mine at Conselheiro Lafaiete in Brazil, one of the best localities for the species. This mine dates to the 1800s and has resumed operations in the last decade due to changing manganese ore prices and extraction technology. It is essentially doubly terminated with sharp, lustrous prism and pyramidal faces and the crystal is totally gem with only a few veiled inclusions. This gorgeous bright red crystal just glows in a showcase with minimal lighting. It's a fine miniature with the best characteristics of the species as most of us will ever see, quality over size, for the miniatures collector who would love the killer color of a red Rhodonite to go with a gem crystal suite. This beauty has a mass of 15.34 grams.
