The specimen has rounded edges that reveal an earlier stage of white Smithsonite that was subsequently coated with a later stage of canary-yellow, Cadmian Smithsonite. The final product is a combined vuggy and botryoidal interior that displays variegated bright yellow and whiteish yellow contrasting colors... Almost a geode of Smithsonite, as this was prepared from a much larger piece. It has vibrant color, great texture and significant heft that combine for a very visual and physical experience when you pick it up! This is atypical compared to earlier finds at this locality that had the ultimate botryoidal texture but were a less vivid and sparkly color of yellow. The weight of this piece lets you know immediately that it is all Smithsonite by weight. Unique in many ways!
