Catapleiite occurs at MSH as best of species material, and indeed most people who collect these might have seen several famous and well published large specimens with crystals to 4 inches - although those were mostly opaque and crude compared to this jewel. This piece, however, looks at first like a gem beryl, a goshenite! It is clear and transparent, and sharply hexagonal. It is so fine, so perfect, that you really have to reorient yourself to look at it again and realize it is not a beryl but some obscure rarity that is normally simply not known for gemminess and transparency in any size. It is a perfect large thumbnail (world class for exhibit purposes) or small miniature size. It is simply exquisite. These were said to have been collected in the 1970s and 1980s.
