Feldspar var. Moonstone
A deceptively subtle and beautiful cluster of transparent to translucent, color-variegated, tabular feldspar crystals from Mexico with the special optical attribute of "moon shimmer" to it. Crystals in this cluster range from pale blue to locally tan-pink and purple-brown with a satin to vitreous luster with the largest crystal measuring 3.8 x 3.7 x 0.7 cm which is actually embedded in a much stouter partial crystal that serves as the matrix for the piece. Several other nearly complete crystals (contacted at the base of the cluster) are also present. Views down the long axis of each crystal reveal the mysterious optical character of each of the crystals possessing a marvelous, bluish pearly and opalescent schiller! What an aesthetic and unusual feldspar specimen! Ex. Wouter Van Tichelen collection with label. I love these rare things, and have bought them when I find them on the market again. Benny Fenn had them, back in the 1990's. Maybe some came out earlier, as well.
