An extremely rare 1 in 10,000 sulfur specimen from the classic old sulfur mines of Italy, featuring a unique association with Quartz that is almost never seen in good specimens...Over a dozen, bright yellow Sulfur crystals are completely covered by sparkling drusy Quartz on this rare and fine, three-dimensional cabinet specimen from the historic Cozzo Disi Mine, Sicily. The Sulfur crystals are rather large, ranging in size from 1 cm at the smallest to 4.7 cm at the largest, and all of the crystals are fairly well isolated. They sparkle! They are covered by a dazzling, sugary textured druse of tiny Quartz crystals that scintillate in any reasonable lighting but especially sunlight or LED, with the forms of the Sulfur crystals preserved under the thin Quartz coating. There is absolutely no damage to any of them with only minor contacting around the periphery and then of course at the bottom which reveals the bright canary yellow color of the crystals from their underside as well as some that have an orange tinted core. Sulfurs exhibiting this drusy Quartz coating are very from the CozoDisi Mine (unique, probably), and this is an excellent, collector-quality display-sized specimen from this historic Sicilian sulfur mine. It literally has everything going for it, if you want a cabinet sized Sulfur that is truly something special. From the noted classics collection of East Coast specialist, George Elling.
