This is a great Annabergite specimen with prominent, bright green crystal clusters set off nicely on the contrasting ivory carbonate matrix. The Annabergite crystals form clusters of vibrant green, translucent to transparent, bladed crystals to 1.5 mm distributed within shallow, brownish, Goethite-coated vuggy areas at the top of the piece. Both the Annabergite and Goethite provide great contrast with the light-colored, sparry, glistening Calcite-Dolomite matrix. Annabergite, which is an uncommon nickel arsenate hydrate, occurs at its best from this locality, though great specimens are few and far between despite hundreds of years of collecting. Ex. Robert Reynolds collection.
