A classic, very old style of Shangbao from the early 2000's, this elegant specimen is composed and fine in its aesthetic placement of literal gems of fluorite upon contrasting dolomite. Featured in the University of Arizona Museum's large China exhibit a few years ago in 2013, this is a fabulous example of the modified Fluorite octahedrons from Shangbao. The stepped Fluorites are totally gemmy, have a glassy luster, and each is graced with a gentle, purple core. These Fluorites, the largest of which is 3.7 cm across, are distributed nicely across a matrix of crystallized Dolomite. The Fluorites fluoresce, as well as some of the Dolomites. The aesthetics, and quality, of this cabinet-sized specimen are excellent. It was in my collection since early travel to China, and probably came out circa 2005.I have not seen any specimens of this "Gem style" from the mine, since.
