Stokesite is a rare calcium-tin silicate and the Urucum Claim has produced the most attractive specimens of the species, considered world's best by far, in the late 1990s and early 2000s. This particular piece is unusual in that it is a very attractive Stokesite matrix specimen; whereas many are loose, single spheres or large specimens with a few Stokesite balls on a large, clunky piece of pegmatite matrix. This unusually elegant miniature (typical of the Gioia aesthetic in this collection) features a nice, nearly 2 cm sphere of pinkish tan Stokesite composed of a myriad of tightly clustered, bladed crystals perched perfectly on a Lepidolite-rich piece of matrix, so that the Stokesite displays prominently. A few clusters of pale tan Cookeite are also present for added interest. A stellar miniature for this rare species from the important finds here in the 1990s. Illustrated in Mineral Collections of Brazil, 2020, page 120.
