Turquoise
Sculptural, naturally shaped but lightly-polished, this free-form Turquoise from China's Hubei Province is both attractive and substantial in size. The polishing helps accentuate the pleasing, greenish-blue color, and the gently undulating surface is equally agreeable to the eye. The shape is natural, though, and also note you can see a bit of the matrix rock around which this nodule or nugget formed. Fine aesthetics for this large cabinet specimen. 640 grams, or just under 2 pounds of lapidary grade turquoise. I have to actually pay HIGHER than the miners would get selling this to the crusher for jewelry and other uses, to get them to save the specimens. Still, that is a lot of good carving rough! Comes with a custom lucite base.
