Jonas Mine tourmalines have gained a special appeal not just for their rarity on the market, famous cranberry color and intense gemminess when at their best (as this one). They are prized for being part of a now-legendary pocket in the late 1970s that yielded a cache of crystals valued today at over $50 million. The story of the discovery of this pocket, which I will not go into here but is readily accessible, is one of the great ones in mineral history. Certainly some of the most sought-after tourmalines in the world after the California bluecaps.. and this is a SUPER miniature! Weighs 7 grams - nicely terminated, good luster and gemmy from top to bottom. Every fine collection should have one! GEMMIER AND BRIGHTER In PERSON! 5 x 0.7 x 0.7 cm
