Calcite - image 1

Calcite

Unknown Owner
The Himalaya Mine is so famous for its tourmalines, and they make up such a large percentage of what has come from there onto the market, that you really do not think about other fine mineral specimens from the mine that occasionally come out. Look at this elegant, very distinctive CALCITE specimen, which came out of the collection of Chuck Houser (Leo Horensky had it before that). It is a cluster of extremely delicate, bladed crystals, inter-grown in a lacy pattern, on a thin bit of matrix in back (in the matrix, you can see bits of pink tourmaline and muscovite, giving hints of the origin). A fine piece for a California or calcite collector!
