This unusual danburite crystal is lustrous and translucent with a truly unique, intense, golden-amber color. It also exhibits possible etching or stepped growth along with wild and crazy growth striations on some faces that make it hard to identify at first as a danburite. The mass is 47 grams. This was the finest crystal I saw or am aware of from a small pocket of fall of 2013 that was brought out at the Munich show of that year. It is simply riveting in person for color and style. I have to admit that I could not at first sight-ID this piece because it is so unusual! I thought it more likely a feldspar or spodumene. But it is a danburite from the Merelani tanzanite deposit. No question.
