This venerable old salt mine was mined for many hundreds of years, but has been closed for a long time; therefore this is an old specimen. This is an outstanding example of the high quality specimens that this deposit has produced. A very large, lustrous, transparent, colorless, doubly terminated cube of halite, with stepped faces, is perched on a matrix of massive halite. The big crystal measures almost 6.0 cm across. Adding to this impressive piece are several smaller halite crystals which frame the larger crystal. It also exhibits wonderful pinky orange fluorescence. This is as aesthetic as halite crystals can get, from anywhere.
