A ribbon effect of heavily striated, glassy and gemmy, crystals of olive-green to cognac-colored topazolite are emplaced on a metasomatized garnet matrix (limestone metamorphosed to garnet). The crystals reach 1.5 cm across, although the huge crystal on the far left, which initially looks like it has damage, is actually crystallized in a weird manner and is nearly an inch across. This specimen is a dramatic, distinctive and major example of this rare garnet gem species!
