Spinels, gemmy phlogopite mica, all on contrasting white matrix of quartz! Not only is this a very interesting crystal combo specimen from Vietnam, but look how a spinel crystal has actually grown right on top of one of the phlogopites - in fact, the best one (measuring 2.2 cm) ! Most of the spinels here are admittedly small but they are pretty; and there is one that measures 1 cm across. The isolation of these green and red crystals on the stark white marble matrix adds to the attractiveness. 14.6 x 5.9 x 3.6cm
