Calcite - Tsumeb Mine, Namibia
specimen
Calcite
Description
A large, spectacular calcite specimen out of the collection of Willy Israel, from the Tsumeb Mine, which turned out calcites in an amazing array of beautiful forms, but rarely as a ball like this. The ball is actually made up of dozens of densely intergrown, individual crystals. The label accompanying the piece shows Willy Israel to have purchased it from dealer of African minerals C.S. Queit 23 years ago.
