This piece is a lovely "fan"-shaped group of modified scalenohedral Manganoan Calcite crystals with a soft pink hue. The crystals are translucent when backlit and the overall aesthetics of the piece make it a very good specimen of this classic San Juan material. The Idarado mine is most famous for its Manganoan Calcite specimens. In fact, the largest quantity of the finest quality Manganoan Calcite specimens from Colorado were found in this mine. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
