Calcite
Mined in 1994 during pillar-robbing, this attractive piece features knobby, almost stalactitic Calcite (likely stout euhedral crystals underneath) completely covered by sharp Calcite crystals. These individual Calcites are 1-2 mm in size, highly lustrous, and partially gemmy. The sparkle of these crystals enhances the buff color nicely. Originally thought to possibly be Strontianite, x-ray diffraction indicates a greater likelihood of Calcite. Good aesthetics. RCL 936
