A Bisbee old-timer and a really attractive one at that! On a thin limonitic matrix are platy calcite with these shimmering, transparent exteriors made up of hundreds of tiny clear faces. The matrix shows through in places, rather than the crystals being massed wall-to-wall, which adds to the attractiveness. On one part of the specimen, a layer of brushy malachite had formed, and the calcites grew on top of this. Altogether, a pretty and unusual association specimen from perhaps the most famous locality in America. Ex. Paul Harter Collection.
