From the Min. Record: "Wulfenite appears to be quite rare in China. Until recently, only a few mediocre specimens with small yellow to red crystals have reached the specimen market, from a rare-earth mine in the Mianning area, Sichuan province. In October 2006, however, the first really fine Chinese wulfenite specimens were brought out of a remote area in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region which has a geology and arid climate similar to that of the great Arizona/Mexico wulfenite province." Here is a wonderful miniature from the find - an intact pocket, rather than a flat plate or clunky chunk of matrix, and with fine crystals that show both deep color and superb luster for this find. They are actually quite gemmy, too. Most of the specimens from this find had relatively small crystals, so these are actually fair-sized crystals for the find, at around 0.5 cm.
