These are collected at some degree of personal risk, from small clefts in the Alps. Hematite "Roses" from the Swiss Alps are one of those old mineral classics that even newbies and laymen can appreciate. The shape is special and interesting at a gut level. This perfect miniature features a 3 x 2.7 x 1.5 cm rosette of hematite on a little pedestal of adularia and smaller crystals. It is complete all around and just "cute." Joe Budd photos.
