A FINE old plate of English calcite, mined in the 1930's and bought out of a miner's personal collection in 1976, according to the index card that came with the specimen. The crystals measure up to about 2 cm, have fine clarity, and there is no damage! Strangely, only the termination faces show speckles of aminute hematite grains - why it selectively formed on the terminations and not the side faces is a mystery. ex Ruggiero collection 8.9 x 8.6 x 2.5cm
