Fine crystals of topaz from the Ural Mountains date back to the czarist days of the mid to late 1800s and are highly sought after today. One like this which is a well formed, transparent, pastel blue, nearly equant crystal, is exceedingly rare today. This is gemmier in person, totally transparent and see-through, with a pastel blue color distinct for the locality. The terminations are pristine and only on the peripheral edge of one back corner is there any damage (angle of rightmost photo shows worst edge, please note, on purpose). It displays sharply fron the front and shows off the complex termination nicely. These are old pieces generally, often dating to the mid 1800s, and large crystals of this quality are hard to obtain today. Truly a fine miniature! This was purchased from Filer's long ago, and went to a private California collection before residing for a long time in the private collection of dealers John and Linda Stimson. It is SUPER GEMMY and fine, and such a rare example!
