Chalcopyrite Var. Blister Copper
These classic pieces of rounded, botryoidal growth chalcopyrite were once known as "blister copper" by the local miners, and actually valued far higher than crystallized chalcopyrite for their unusual form and beauty. They would primarily date to the early through mid-1800s, and only come in this habit from Cornwall. I was very, very pleased to be able to buy an old collection recently which had this specimen and a few others among its top pieces. One seldom sees examples of this size and quality! IT IS SURELY ONE OF THE BEST In SIZE CLASS. Joe Budd Photos.
