Unusually large (6 cm), subhedral crystal of dried-blood red Zincite from the famous mines of Franklin. The Zincite has a distinct and bright metallic luster and a layered (foliated) cross-section. It rests on a matrix of brilliantly fluorescent (red) Calcite. There is even some highly fluorescent (green) Willemite scattered about. This is a very good, classic combination piece from Franklin. Formerly in the well-known, early 1900's collection of Louis Reamer, this was a very early piece in Kay's collection, #479.
