Bright, neon or hot-pink crystals of Cobalt-bearing Dolomite line the interior of a small vug on this colorful piece from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This piece is just a stunner with one prominent, literally "gem," 1.8 cm crystal in the center of the piece surrounded by at least two dozen smaller ones that range from 3 to 7 mm in size. The crystals sheltered by the edge of the vug are in essentially pristine condition with only minor contacting in places around the periphery. The fine-grained, off-white Quartz matrix provides great contrast. This is one of the most beautiful mineral miniatures we have ever seen - it is just shocking, in person. From a choice collection of private miniatures from a renowned dealer/collector, recently sold off.
