Beautiful, gemmy, and lustrous orange to burnt-orange orpiment crystals to 2.5 cm with sharp chisel terminations form a superb specimen from the Quiruvilca Mine of Peru. Pieces of this quality came out from the 1970s to 1981, with none since. This piece is in fine condition, for its size. It is pristine. Ex. Dr. Gary Hansen Collection and comes with a Zweibel Mineral Kingdom of Houston label, which dates the piece from mid-1980. The piece probably dates to the last major orpiment find in 1981. Quiruvilca Mine orpiment of this quality is comparable to any worldwide locality, including the well-known 2001 find at the famous Twin Creeks Gold Mine of Nevada.
