Brazilianite (Circa 1940S)
This crystal is MUCH MORE GEMMY in person. The photos do not convey well the spectacular color or the special gemminess of this piece. It is actually fairly valuable just for gem rough. The luster is glassy and bright, and the piece is complete all around except only the bottom periphery. It is a super thumbnail with pizzazz you can see from far away. This crystal is from the collection of Dr Fred Pough, former curator of the American Museum around World War II, and popular author of the Field Guide to Rocks and Minerals, first published in 1953. He was involved in the original find, and handled some of the specimens as they came out in the 1940s and 1950s.. MUCH BETTER In PERSON
