Ludlamite from this locale in Mexico is so rare on the market that most folks have NEVER seen a good one; but the locality did, during a brief window in the 1970s, produce some superb examples for the species. This one is rich and colorful, with gemmy crystals to about 8 mm on contrasting gossan matrix. Sphalerite underlies it, as well. This is showy, pretty, and important all at once! Given the rarity, and the fact that it is pretty besides, I do not think the price is out of line at all but rather quite reaosnable for the significance of the piece.
