A LARGE, gemmy and lustrous tanzanite crystal with a gorgeous, sharp termination. As with most, they are heated to enhance the blue color. This beauty has excellent blue and purple pleochroism on the b- and c-axes, very intense and visible with any decent lighting. The crystal is contacted (not damaged, but growth-disrupted) on two sides, but this is a HIGHLY REPRESENTATIVE and large example of the species which otherwise is excellent in color and luster. Tanzanite crystal supplies are drying up rapidly, as the Tanzania government has taken control of supply and distribution. 32 grams.
