Superb cast of Goethite after Selenite. The cast remains hollow, with the edges and even the striations of the original Selenite remarkably preserved. The Goethite has a botryoidal second generation, and it all has a fabulous, metallic luster. The color, particularly on the botryoids, ranges from grey-black to an attractive and understated rust red. I think the aesthetics are exquisite in their own way, and it is even better in person, where you can really appreciate the sparkly and reflective metallic luster. An excellent small cabinet specimen of a classic style. While we have seen these over the years, and I gather many came out in the 1960s and 1970s, I have seen few of this caliber and quality.
